Your Child’s First Neurology Visit — What to Expect
Visiting a neurologist for the first time can feel overwhelming, but at Georgia Epilepsy & Neurology Institute, we make the experience as comfortable as possible for both parents and children. Our team understands that every family arrives with questions, concerns, and hopes for answers. We take time to listen and explain each step of the process so you can feel confident in your child’s care.
Led by Dr. Ki Hyeong Lee, MD and Dr. Joo Hee Seo, MD, our Johns Creek clinic welcomes children of all ages for neurological evaluation, testing, and treatment.
Before the Appointment
Parents are encouraged to gather important information including:
- Previous medical records and imaging results
- A list of current medications and dosages
- Seizure or symptom logs
- Questions you want to discuss
Our staff will confirm insurance and forms beforehand to streamline your visit.
During the Visit
Your child’s first appointment usually lasts 45 to 60 minutes. We begin with a conversation to understand your concerns and review developmental history. A neurological exam follows, checking reflexes, coordination, and motor skills. If needed, EEG or imaging tests may be scheduled for a later date.
We explain every step to the child in age-appropriate language and encourage parents to stay present for comfort and support.
After the Visit
Dr. Lee or Dr. Seo will review findings and outline a personalized care plan. This may include testing, medication, or referral to a therapist or dietitian. Families receive printed summaries and clear instructions for next steps. Follow-up appointments are scheduled as needed to track progress.
