Comprehensive Epilepsy & Neurology Services

At Georgia Epilepsy & Neurology Institute, we provide advanced, evidence‑based care for patients of all ages — from infants to older adults. Our services are designed to deliver accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and seamless continuity of care, all within a compassionate and patient‑centered environment.

Our physicians are highly trained epileptologists with expertise across the full spectrum of epilepsy care, including diagnostics, medication management, surgical evaluation, and access to pioneering clinical trials such as gene‑targeted therapies.

Treatment & Management Services

Medication Management & Optimization

We use precision‑based strategies to select and adjust antiseizure medications, focusing on efficacy, safety, and long‑term quality of life. Treatment plans are individualized based on seizure type, age, comorbidities, and genetic or metabolic factors.

Rescue & Safety Planning

We develop personalized seizure action plans, including rescue medication strategies, safety precautions, and emergency protocols for home, school, and work environments.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) Evaluation

We assess candidacy for VNS therapy and coordinate implantation and follow‑up programming with surgical partners.

Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) Evaluation

For patients with medically refractory focal epilepsy, we provide evaluation for RNS candidacy and collaborate with epilepsy surgery program at CHOA and Emory Health for implantation and long‑term management.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Pathway Coordination

We identify appropriate candidates for DBS therapy and coordinate care with specialized surgical centers.

Ketogenic Diet Program Coordination

For pediatric and adult patients who may benefit from dietary therapy, we provide evaluation, referral, and ongoing monitoring in partnership with specialized ketogenic diet teams.

Surgical Treatment Evaluation

We perform comprehensive pre‑surgical assessments and collaborate closely with Emory Epilepsy Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) to ensure patients have access to the full spectrum of surgical options, including resection, laser ablation, and neuromodulation therapies.

Diagnostic Services

Our in‑office diagnostic capabilities allow for timely, accurate evaluation without unnecessary delays.

Standard EEG

A CPT‑aligned short‑duration EEG study used to evaluate seizure activity, epileptiform discharges, and other neurological abnormalities. Activation procedures such as hyperventilation and photic stimulation are performed when clinically indicated.

Ambulatory EEG (Extended Monitoring)

Portable EEG monitoring performed over 24–72 hours to capture events in a natural environment. This is particularly useful for intermittent seizures, spells, or diagnostic clarification.

Long-term Video EEG (When Indicated)

Video correlation is used to distinguish epileptic seizures from non‑epileptic events and to characterize seizure semiology.

Neuroimaging Coordination (MRI & CT)

We coordinate advanced neuroimaging studies with local imaging centers to evaluate structural causes of seizures, developmental abnormalities, tumors, vascular lesions, and other neurological conditions.

Genetic, Autoimmune, and Metabolic Testing

For patients with suspected genetic or immune mediated epilepsy, we coordinate testing and provide interpretation to guide precision‑based treatment.

Why Our Diagnostic Approach Is Different

  • Epileptologist‑led interpretation ensures accuracy and clinical relevance.
  • Lifespan expertise allows us to evaluate infants, children, adolescents, and adults with age‑specific protocols.
  • Advanced technology supports early detection and precise treatment planning.
  • Integrated care pathways streamline referrals for imaging, surgery, and clinical trials.

Conditions We Treat

We diagnose and manage a wide range of neurological and epilepsy‑related conditions, including:

  • Refractory and complex epilepsy
  • First‑time (new‑onset) seizures
  • Genetic epilepsies (Dravet, CDKL5, ADNFLE, etc.)
  • Infantile spasms and developmental epileptic encephalopathies
  • Lennox‑Gastaut syndrome
  • Tuberous sclerosis complex and other neurocutaneous syndromes
  • Autoimmune epilepsy and encephalitis (e.g., anti‑NMDA, LGI1)
  • Migraine and chronic headache
  • Developmental delay and cerebral palsy
  • ADHD and autism spectrum disorders
  • Movement disorders
  • Stroke and TIA‑like symptoms

Every condition is approached with a balance of scientific rigor and compassionate care.

A Streamlined, Patient‑Centered Experience

We designed our services to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time:

  • Short wait times
  • Clear communication
  • Lifespan continuity (pediatric → adult)
  • Collaboration with Emory and CHOA for advanced care
  • Family‑friendly environment
  • Time for questions and shared decision‑making

Our goal is to empower patients and families with knowledge, confidence, and long‑term support.
